Up for sale is a rare opportunity to buy a beautiful, ultralight, high performance McTavish Girls Carver Surftech Tuflite 6'6" Funboard. The complete package is less than 14 months old (purchased last July 2011) and has been used only about half a dozen times, so we are talking about less than 12 hours use in the water! The board and all accessories are in extremely good condition. The board was purchased with a trip abroad in mind which regrettably is no longer going to happen. The purchaser will receive a total package that cost me in excess of £520 (excludes the postage costs!) :
Surfboard McTavish Girls Carver Surftech Tuflite 6'6" - £385
Bulldog Global Travel Series Boardbag 7mm featuring extra tail padding, shoulder strap, vented main compartment - £55
Scarfini Lightweight High Performance Carbon Base HX1 Fins - £50
Balin 6 Foot 7mm Pink Urethane Double Swivel Leash - £22
Roxy Two Piece White & Blue Tail Pad (Deck Grip) - £18
The board was purchased much cheaper than the RRP (£520) as it was discontinued at the time (being replaced by the non-gender specific McTavish Micro) and had suffered a very minor ding next to the logo, some tiny deck compressions and superficial scratches from being handled in the shop. The ding was about the size of a small fingernail and did not penetrate the skin. It was filled with epoxy resin and a small hibiscus transfer laid ontop of it. It is only noticeable on close inspection as it is slightly off white colour but doesn't detract from the overall board aesthetics or performance. There are also some very tiny scratches to the tail end of the board which could easily be sorted by polishing out. If you need any more photos, please contact me and I will do my best though it is tricky to photo as it has a high gloss finish top and bottom.
The board would be suitable for a wide range of surfers and abilites ranging from a young beginner to a competent female surfer up to about 14.5 stone. My recommendation however would be for someone of an intermediate ability or better, wanting to progress, as it is a very fast board!!! I'm 15 stone and it absolutely flew on small 2-3 foot waves!! It also makes for a fantastic travel board due to its lightweight and superior strength (definately stronger than my recent Firewire purchase!)
This is what McTavish say about the board:
"Due to its friendly volume and area, the Carver is a great fun and practical board to get going on, but don't underestimate its potential. A reliability design with fast reactive performance. The secret's in the highly developed bottom shape, with proven elements like three-stage rocker, single to double concaves, and bevels. Fins mounted right under your back foot.
A full length single concave, flowing into a double in the tail with a spiral vee. The Carver has more power to get up and go in smaller conditions and accelerates faster on bigger days. Shortboard thinking in a comfortable paddling package."
Viewing is highly recommended - I am located at TR27 4HD, Hayle, Cornwall. I am willing to deliver in Cornwall for a petrol fee or I will consider sending by courier at cost plus £10 for packaging (it will need plenty of bubblewrap to be on the safe side).
