Another shark attack in WA

Postby surf patrol » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:34 pm

There has been another shark attack in Western Australia, the 6th in the state this year
He's currently stable in Perth Hospital.

Good grief... here we go again...
While I'm sympathetic for the guy at the wrong end of a shark, another attack gives more dangerous ammunition to the 'cull the sharks' lobby
They're already talking about taking the great white off the endangered list in WA (not even sure they're allowed to legally do that are they? ) and they're bound to start hunting them near urban areas soon just so they can be seen to be doing something.

It's the ocean. There are sharks in it.

I thought 5 was too many already! There must be something over there in WA. Was that the same shark by the way?

It's unlikely that it's the same shark. And although 6 is a really high number in 3/4 of a year, let's keep in mind that it is still an incredibly low number compared to the number of surf sessions in that time. Crossing the road and all that.

Yeah... I think there were more than 6 auto accidents in 3/4 of a year. We all get up and drive our cars everyday without thinking twice. Nobody throws their keys away after the 6th accident and say they're done. Just saying
