Surfing Philippines. Good Spot for Mid September

Postby cheval_fou101 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:21 am

Hey Guys,

I'll be going to the philippines mid september and was planning to surf baler but when we called the resort we were told there was close to no surf that time of year. Was wondering if anyone could help me out where it would be good at that time of year. Don't want to fly so it will have to be Luzon and Pagudpud is too far because we may have other things to do on our itinerary as well. Thanks for the help. It's much appreciated.

If you want good waves in mid September, you definitely have to fly out to siargao.. september up until February the waves there are pretty good and you will just be in time for siargao international open (September 23 - 27,2012). Other than siargao and pagudpud, thats probably it. Hoping this helps!

For Northern Luzon, e.g. San Juan La Union and also Pagudpud, September is a bit on the edge.

Because then the Southern Swell in the South China Sea is about to End and the famous Northern swell will start.

October to March you have good conditions in San Juan La Union - surfing capital of the North!

Taken by a friend of Luke Landrigan, the Australian-Filipino Surf Champ, who I can call my friend.

It's good to have someone to take some shots of you when you're out surfing. Good to have you on the forum.

I've been thinking about coming to the Philliphines for surfing since flights are pretty cheap from where i live. Whats the lowest budget you could do a week trip on? accomo and food etc.? I like to eat locally so thats no prob :)

Basically its on the Thai level, more or less.

Transport and infrastructure can be a bit of a challenge.

I arrived in the Philippines 6 days ago, and the weather has been very bad. We have had a typhoon and a series of tropical storms. Hopefully. It will improve by the get here. Siargao is a good places for a beginner. Enjoy!

You are a bit early, especially for the South its still typhoon season, thats right. Up here in the North we already see the change and the Northern Swell will come in October.
