Dunno really its a tricky subject, maybe don't talk too much but listen instead, seems like your mate brought it up so may just want you to listen :? .

Um, reading between the lines here the first thing that comes to mind for me is why would your friend bring up this topic with you. Now?
Perhaps it's a conversation-starter to break the ice before your friend shares some deeper problems? Perhaps your friend simply doesn't know how to start a dialogue on the subject with you directly and this is a roundabout way to get started.
Whatever...talk to your friend now (as in NOW). Ask them some caring & up-front questions and take the time to listen to what they say...carefully.
If you're unsure they're ok. Let someone with professional skills know.

That's what I'd do in your situation.

And you write those comments from a happy well-balanced perspective of yourselves and a good sense of self worth. These are great things to have...But some people for various reasons are not so happy nor is their view of life so clearly defined.
In our country it's the 2nd biggest killer of people under 25.
I'm sure there's more to it than just the 'easy way out' line...

People who commit suicide are chicken xxxxx. I'm not trying to be rude, but its just so stupid. Life could never get bad enough to make me even think about that.

Im not talking shite. I'm just saying that i have no respect for someone who wants to commit suicide or slit their wrists. The chicken xxxxx basterds need to toughen up. Its so retarded how many little pansies we have in this world today.

im guessing your a child and so will not take any offence to what you write ...but be carefull little man ..you are treading on very very bad ground .
You do not have the experience yet' in life to make such comments and i strongly suggest you leave this subject alone unless you have any words of comfort to offer the original poster .
If not then shut the hell up untill you have encountered enough death of any kind to make any kind of comment .

Um, before we go further here lets take a good recent example. Take Paul Hester the drummer of Crowded House who recently swung from a tree in a Melbourne park. By all accounts a good guy, a guy who had everything...money, fame, family & friends..yet inwardly he was depressed and very unwell, he chose an option that for him was quite viable...yet for us unthinkable...this is the power of illnesses like depression...at your weakest moments you're unable to make rational choices.
It is unwise to be judgemental of these dark moments from the black & white perspective of a happy & healthy person's outlook.

Sure enough one day you'll lose a mate, a friend, an ex-classmate from school or whatever. At this point you'll go...duh. There's more to this lark than I realised....
