DIY Warm Water Feet Rinser

Postby KookieRookie » Tue Jul 24, 2012 4:21 pm

I am sure some of you guys and girls have heard of this but my friends Grandpa showed me this awesome idea to keep sand from your feet out of the car. You rinse them in warm water too.
What you need:
A Water Jug/Milk Carton
An old Wetsuit or piece of neoprene
Sewing supplies (Waterproof)
Glue (Waterproof)

So, the first thing to do is fill your water jug with tap water. Then poor it on your feet and make sure the jug will hold enough water to rinse your feet off.

Then, you take your old wetsuit and cut a strip of neoprene as thick as you can to fit on the jug for height and as wide as the circumference of the jug. If you are using a piece of neoprene, be sure it is large enough for your jug.

Now, you can glue the wetsuit material with a THIN layer of waterproof glue around the jug. leave the two ends unglued for about 1 inch away from the edge on both sides. Let the glue dry.

After gluing, you now sew together the 2 ends as tight as you can. Sew it up and down the neoprene at least twice. Now you can glue the seam down to the jug. Let the glue dry

Now, next time your surfing, before you go, fill the jug with warm water and put it in your car. The neoprene will keep the water warm until you are done and when you are ready to drive home and hop in your car, you just pour the water on your feet (OUTSIDE THE CAR) and it rinses of the sand and the water is warm!!

Nice! Not very important where I surf, since there are cold showers everywhere and it isn't that cold, but a fantastic DIY for places without showers! Especially in the cooler climates

Thanks, where I surf we are at a really old beach with a parking lot, rocks, sand and water. Comes in really handy

I don't know whether you have these in the States but an Australian trick is to use the old lining of a wine cask, fill with wate r and leave on the roof of your car or in the sunlight in the interior. First few uses, you smell a bit like an alcoholic but it gets better. A few guys have plastic plumbing pipe bout 4" in diameter with a shower rose and tap attached, and it's painted black. Works well!
Love your recycling Kookierookie.

I mostly do dawn patrol to avoid crowds, so I wake up really early and run the water until it's scalding hot, then pour it into a water jug. Hours later when I pour it on me it's warm. In the winter I just wrap my shortie around it.

A handy little tip Kookierookie. Until recently I only drove old bombs, and covering the interior with sand was not a problem.
