October Surf Trip

Postby NixnuxK09 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 8:59 pm

Hello, I am a surfer from Santa Cruz, California. I am planning to go on a surf trip in October, but have NO idea where to go. All I know is that I want to go somewhere out of the country. Where would have the most epic waves in Oct?

Welcome Nix! Shipsterns Bluff, Tasmania is a pretty epic spot around that time of year  :unuts:

Seriously though, what type of waves are you after? East coast Australia is a good spot, but a tad inconsistent if you're after 20ft faces. Typically in the 3-6ft range but there's often smaller, and occasionally bigger.

I'm not sure if Indo is good that time of year or not, but it is probably another good option if you like tubes.

It is getting near the end of the Indo season but, there is still time to hook into surf that will be slightly less frantic with crowds.
Same with the Maldives but in both the wind patterns are not as user friendly!
Get a good day and the chances are still high, you be surfing some of the best waves you can get!

Even Australia is agood option :D

Hey,

You should check out South West France, somewhere like Hossegor. The waves are pumping in October. If you need advice on where to stay, I can give you some info as I've spent some time in the area. My e-mail is darcycoop@hotmail.co.uk

Enjoy!

October is already spring in Peru, weather starts to get nice, and so does the water temp, you can score here all along our coast, although it's not surf season in mancora - cabo blanco area, everywhere from there on south has waves, should definitely check out central Peru, Punta Hermosa (about 12 breaks here), San Bartolo, and head up towards bermejo, huanchaco, chicama, pacasmayo and lobitos(7 breaks), there are a lot more waves, those are the popular ones, you could do a surftrip all along the coast and score in other epic uncrowded waves. you can't go wrong, if not this time should definitely keep Peru in mind for a future destination.
