Time for a New Wetsuit?

Postby Banana » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:33 pm

I've had this wetsuit for years.

It's comfortable, and warm enough for the 50 degree water around here.

However it has two problems:

1. It is always a major struggle to take off. There are no zippers, so peeling it off is a long hard process.

2. It is probably less flexible than other newer wetsuits, and I think that a lot of my paddling effort goes into simply flexing the suit.

Should I get a newer wetsuit?

Thanks,

Al

The newer neoprene is super soft and flexible. It is also true you can use a lot of energy with less flexible wetsuits. I surf 50 degree water as well, and I like the new Xcel Infiniti X- Zip 2 5/4/3 hooded wetsuits. O'Neill also has some super flexible wetsuits out right now. Take a trip to your local surf shop and see what wetsuit fits you the best. I would also try to get glued blind-stiched and taped seams.
Good Luck!

Thanks, guys, I'm looking forward to a new wetsuit. Looks like I might get the Xcel Infiniti X- Zip 2 5/4/3 wetsuit that you recommended, Tony, and I might even buy it at Safari Town, when I'm up in the Portland area.

Hey, wait a second, are you the Tony who works at Safaritown, and reviewed the wetsuit in this video?
