Hi Alex , since you haven't surfed before the NSP board you are thinking is more than adequate, as is the BIC 9' 4" you could probably save a little money by considering second hand longboards from a local surfshop if there is one.
Cheap is not necessarily a good option because sometime cheap = fall apart junk, but careful buying can get you a good board cheap.

A little advice in the beginning don't surf alone try to go with friends, for, support, safety and lots of fun laughing at each other!
Think about trying a surf school, if you don't have surfing friends. And you won't have bought a board and found out that surfing just doesn't suit you. A genuine try before you buy
It makes it so much harder to learn by yourself as there is no-one to point out your mistakes, experienced people will show you things where you are completely clueless.

The 9'2" NSP Surf Series Longboard is a great beginner board. They are very durable and perform well. I would suggest one of the NSP longboards over a used fiberglass board for beginners because of the added durability and great price.

Yasu Alex, you've got a challenging road there and not much of a road map nor mentors. OK! So I will try to help as you go

I know the NSP series and as both Tony G and I suggest it will be a good board and I know now you will have to take the alone road.

Now without giving your address, which Greek island, the reason I suggest this is so I can google earth it and have a look at what coast and direction your best bet would be.
There are various Greek surf spots listed on different s websites and I'll check here, and at the moment there are none, so you could well be the first to add Greek surf spots on this forum!

A serious question are you a good swimmer, as you will need to be your own rescue system.

Alex I applaud your go for it attitude, keep asking on this forum, I think you will find a lot of support.
talk hard to both Bic and Global surf Industries (NSP) on the net and see if you can do a deal.
let us know how it unfolds :D

HI Alex, there is a minor thing to consider in the Surf Series longboard, they have their own fin system and so you are limited to the fins they provide. The other GSI longboards have FCS to but are not as durable as the surf series.
The BIC uses FCS system and has more fins available but at the beginning stages fins won't be an issue.
Crete is likely to have some good surf spots as it has some quite long fetch to generate waves
(fetch is the length of water wind blows over to create waves the longer the better)
Good fetch also means the storm making the waves isn't on top of you and you are just getting the swell.

Stand by for a list of surf spots.

You are very welcome Alex, the west and south coast look to have some of the longest fetch in the whole Mediterranean, some names of spots I was able to dig up from Australia were Preveli, Stalida, Iraklio, Falasarna and the north coast seems to have a better chance of beginner type surfs.
Just be aware and read up about respect and manners in the water as you learn and choose days when you know you can ahndle the conditions. There are other surfers on Crete and some who have watched Point Break too many times and think they are hell men.
Go quietly and just enjoy yourself and be aware of local laws regarding water usage. They probably differ greatly for what other countries are used to!
Crete is a new surfing horizon so treat as you would like it to continue. :D
