Need help with identifying good beginner locations

Postby Lachlandudley33 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 7:09 am

Hey guys,

I have a 7foot long board and my friends and I aare trying to learn to surf. I live in Brisbane about an hour from Surfers Paradise so that is where I surf. With thsi said, it's often not very suitable fo rbeginners. I was wondering which surf spots in queensland are the most suited to the beginner level. (By beginner I mean I can stand up and ride a wave fine but would prefer calmer more consistent waves then surfers paradise offers). I have heard Currumbin Alley is good but I am a little concerned that tehre are no shark nets (to my knowledge) and also it is right next to a deep drop off which is apparently where sharks feed. So, please suggest good beginner areas. My only requirement is that they have shark nets installed and are not next to either a canal, a deep estuary or a river mouth (i know this kind of rules a xxxxx load of places out but i figure it;s probably better not to invite an attack).

Cheers guys I really appreciate any help offered.

Depending on where you are in Brisbane I'd consider Noosa. 2 hours drive easy forget Stradbroke Island, that's your best attack spot,
the alley well yeah maybe but you'd have to be having bad luck or be among the bait fish, the drive to Noosa is more dangerous than the surf!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
