surferdude_scarborough wrote:no whaty im saying is that some of th speed on the gps will be the speed at which the wave is trravelling not how fast your board is moving. your speed through the water is different because the water is moving as well as you so the gps thingy takes the combined speed of you and the wave.your actual speed through the water is surely just the difference between your total speed and the speed of the wave you are travelling on? if you go at the same speed as the wavee then the gps reading will be just what the wave is hitting. thats where the sitting on my ass doing 500mph thingy comes in.if i decide to walk to the front of the plane to take a whizz if i measured my speed for this period of time then it would read the speed i was walking plus however fast the plane was going.
