Gentlemen, we have a reef

It's another artificial reef, created as a coastal defence Borth, near Aberystwyth, Wales.

The reef is 300m off the coast, and last year surfing schools said it would attract surfers from across the UK.

Hmm.

Cant imagine many learners will be up for a 300m paddle out to the reef, but at least this time they've put it somewhere that gets waves!

The currents are telling me that more survey and homework requests are coming to our forum soon. Oh, and one request will be from someone that cannot take the time to visit the reef, make first-hand observations, and interview surfers that are present.

Good point about the 300m paddle. I know I'm sceptical, probably because of past performances of arifical reefs, but I'd love to see these working. If new wave spots could come out of the need for sea defences, fantastic.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and welcome some good reports of this new surf spot.
As for the surveys, I can't wait either.

I'v seen loads of people surfing up against harbour walls. Sea defences can create waves off course (strictly speaking not creating waves).

Strangely incidental, but Superbank is sort of a semi-artificial break...

That's what Wales needs, Superbank.
