Postby surfsmurf » Mon Mar 05, 2012 9:43 pm

Hi surfers! I am new here, never done surfing in my life, though considering taking a holiday later in the year to surf Fuerteventura! Does anyone know any beginner places to go to in UK, so I can give it a little try first?? :)

Hi surfsmurf, welcome to Surfing Waves!

There are plenty of places where you can get suitable waves. Where do you live? Are you looking to take a couple of lessons first?

HI Newbie every beach has a lesson, even if it is just telling you not to go out, and to observe instead. In reality many beaches have days which are just right for learning in the surf pick gentle regular wave that have noug push to move you and the board and there is nothing dangerous like rocks or peirs or other hard stuff, eventually even the bumpy things become prt of the lndscape and like skiing you can tke on bigger and more exciting spots, gradually learn your stuff and stretch your horizons gradually.

Bear in mind you need to be able to swim well enough to cope with what you choose to surf.
Overseas destinations are not as up to speed as most beaches at home.
Be kind to yourself it's a lifelong journey if the bug gets you
