Views on these fins?

Hi,

Looking to replace my 10" Fatboy fin with an 8" fin but not sure what style.

Ive seen these on ebay and wanted to know if anyone has experienced something similar? They come with tip flex technology and could be a good value fin.

They look as good as any other similar fin, tip flex technology Sales pitch alert there
It just means the tip flexes

A bit like drinking DiHydrogen monoxide = formula H2O , Ebay fins Hmmmmm.
Try googling the brand and put reviews after and see what comes up.

Curious too what is your outcome with the fin change? There will quite a difference from the fat boy

I thought they may be a cheap copy of FCS so did some looking around on the net, Mixed reviews really.

Might just buy a single from Seabase, they are cheap enough but are always out of stock!! A good sign.

Ive got a 9'2 progressive lonbgboard so bought a 10"fatboy to assist with the noseriding. Thought I would go for a completely different ste up to mix things up a bit.
I will keep hold of my Fatboy until I know if I like the feel so I can always resort back to the tried and tested!!

Don't sell your fat boy!
If all your boards have the same fin system, then a great way to understand fins is to use different fins in different surfs or swap fins in the middle of a surf and note what they do!.

So much of surfing is gearing up your board to surf the way you appreciate surfing.

Ploy carb is very flexible . . . . I build clear ones as an option for my pocketboard® and find they are a good laugh. For serious surfing I say don’t go for them as they are too ‘squidgy’ unless this is the feel you want. I guess buy one and expect a different surfing experience to master.

Beware, there is a design flaw on their fins, they hollow out the base of the fin - to save cost? use less material?
Any case, I had one snapping off just like that - in fairly small conditions, didn't hit the bottom or anything, the fin just snapped.
I contact them on eBay and at first they said thanks for the feedback and they will re-design the molds based on my feedback and suggestion (I wrote them a detailed description on how to improve it).
And they said they will send me a new one as replacement when the new ones are casted.

And then no more news from them - despite I contact them a few more times.

So they can bugger off, at least I didn't loose too much money because it was cheap.

Hey esonscar,

I have used many polycarbonate fins before, in fact my current favourite is a flex PC fin, tinted as well.

In the case of this maker, it is the design that is the problem, not the material. PC fins are inherently more fragile but their design made it far worse than it should be.

Imagine the base of the fin 0 the bit that sits in the fin box slot, are hollowed and thinned out (A cross section will look like an 'H' shape in profile.). This means there are really just a few thin strings of contact of the base and the fin box, external force will cause cracks at this weak point and split.
