Best Place to Learn

Postby Drumm » Wed Oct 05, 2011 12:05 pm

I am from the Bath area and am just learning. I currently have to hire a board, and have no buddy to go with so really need to book practice sessions so I know someone is looking out for me just in case!

I have been to Bournemouth but there weren't many waves, and have been to Gower which was great, but really quite far.

Where do you all recommend I go next?

Have you tried North Devon? plenty of waves suitable for someone learning. Woolacombe, Putsborough, Saunton. Now that summers over, the crowds will thinning out a little.

well I took your advice and took myself of to Porthcawl. Was a great place, but I had to have a lesson, as there is no one doing practice sessions. And, I'm too scared just to go on my own.

So, either need a surf buddy or some recommendations of practice sessions

Polzeath beach, North Cornwall, if you're in in bath it'll take you 3 and a half hours drive.. make that five if you're in your camper ;) Surf schools everywhere in Polzy, good waves, really good for beginners, great surfing community, a few shops, anne's cottage, ocean blue, spar etc. Camping accomodation. Great allrounder!

Saunton is a great place to learn. there is a great shop down there called surfedout, where you can also rent equipment from. they will also have some contacts for a surfing school. but a great place and they are very very helpful.

Regards,

Tj
