Another Duck Dive Question

Postby Surf Hound » Tue Nov 29, 2011 3:33 am

Having a hard time duck diving my new board. I can get the board under water but when I go to press down on the back of the board the whole board tries to come up but not darting up like I know it should. The board is just rising back to the top kinda of diagonally, if you know what I am saying... Is this board just too big to dive or is my technique off. Its like I cannot press hard enough to get my nose to shoot up first. Any ideas or help?

Perhaps it is too big to sink it properly. If it's a 5'8 high performance shortboard, it's you!

When you push with your foot, also pull with your arms at the same time. The harder you push it with your feet the better.

You could also be attacking it too steep; practice shallower duck dives until you get the technique nailed, then you will find yourself going deeper and deeper anyway :)
