First wetsuit

Postby justice » Tue Nov 22, 2011 1:18 am

I just bought my first wetsuit. It fits snug and comfortable. Will it stretch at all after I start using it?

yes it will slowly and you will put on weight over winter so if it all matches up ,you should all be snug.
Rinse it with fresh water allow to dry in the shade, try not to pee in it too much  hose all the sand out in the rinse process.
Do not leave it in a bucket in your car or your friends will disown you.
Welcome to winter wonderland!

Congratulations, or commiserations if you've just moved to somewhere where the water temp is colder.

thanks and I live in NJ and this is the first year I will stretch my surfing season. Too crowded in the summer and now is the best time! 55 degrees yuck! Suit got here just in time as the next 4 days look awesome! Moving to Florida in 2 1/2 years then I won't need it

Yes, snug is good! Loose makes water trickle in and freeze you.

Where are you surfing in NJ, and how heavy a wetsuit did you get? Gloves and boots too?

I'm on LBI, and still managing with a 3mm suit plus a rashguard underneath, but the boots and gloves have become mandatory in the last couple of weeks :(

I surf in OC and just got some boots and gloves. I got a 4/3 suit which is good for 55 degrees. Last week I went without boots and froze my toes off but after a while I got used to it. I was in the water today and it was choppy so we left but I was warm while I was in there! I'm so excited just waiting for Thursday as the surf looks like it's going to be clean

On a different direction, I bought my first O'Neal a couple of days ago and man is it WAY tighter than my ripcurl. I'm a size L in ripcurl and excell, but I can barely fit into a size L in oneil! Still, when I paddled out it felt fine, a little tight, not to the point that it was unconfortable.
