looking for a new board.

Postby justice » Sat Oct 01, 2011 3:18 am

what should I get next? I ride a bic and I want to get another board. I was looking into a funboard. Confused. epoxy? funboard? arent they the same thing? I know I am not ready for a fiberglass board. Help! I want something a little lighter than my 7-9 I was thinking of going to a 7-6.
any thoughts
thanks!

Epoxy only refers to construction. Funboard refers to a board style. You can get both an epoxy or a glassed funboard.
Why don't you want to get a fibreflass board?

I'm not that great but was out today and had the best session yet! I still beat my board pretty bad and I don't want to get anything I will damage as I am still a beginner. I just started learning how to catch a wave before it breaks. thanks

Epoxy boards are fibreglass, it is just a tougher resin that is used.

Your board is heavy because of the construction, the BIC boards with black nose-caps are atrocious in every conceivable way.

The BIC "e-comp" boards are a lot better (you can tell because they don't have the black nose-cap), or a NSP or indeed any custom board. There isn't much benefit to going smaller unless you go small enough to duck-dive (which would probably be too advanced), so don't feel that you need to go smaller.

If you are buying a new board I would recommend buying one secondhand. Do your research into it first, if you know what you are looking for then you can get a better and cheaper board than you would otherwise.
