Is this a decent board? $125

Postby ImAti0n » Wed Sep 14, 2011 4:37 am

So I'm trying to get back into surfing. It's been a long time since I've been out.

Found this board I'm looking to buy for $125 It's 6'6 18 1/2 inches wide, and 2 1/4 inches thick

I'm 5'8 185lbs. How would this board fit me? Should I reconsider?

Thanks everyone.

Hi Brou,

My sugestion would be to take surf lessons, at least 2 or 3. You will learn easy and quickly.

widht 18 1/2 is for someone pro. Please try a board at least 1 or 2 foot bigger than you and surelly enjoy !!
For safety,low cost , try a softboard.

If you could surf to a resonable standard, are in good shape, and surfed a shortboard before then I'd say go ahead and get it. I'd agree with surferboy about the width, it's quite 'slim'

Those Dimensions do sound a little like a semi gun to me. not entirely the ideal board to get back into surfing on as they are designed for bigger steeper waves. It may be worth trying to find something with a slightly fuller template. a bit wider and thicker.
