Where I live, the waves rarely reach higher than 3 - 4 feet. Oftentimes while riding, I drop down the wave just fine, but when trying to perform a bottom turn, lose all my speed and the wave just goes right by me.
I ride a 7'10 mini-longboard, and was wondering if a bottom turn is useless in waves this small. Is it more efficient to just angle my takeoff, and not worry about dropping directly down the face?
Also, is bottom turning a longboard generally not done as often as on a shortboard?
Thanks!

3 to 4 foot on ANY day is a good solid swell, and should be more than adquet to set up for buttom turns and other manuvers IMO.
