weight scales of Fins and Boards

Postby travelzomg » Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:27 am

Hi all..

well i am looking around for a shortboard and decided to go with webbers "the one"..
now theres allways the question of size, weight, fin selection etc...
since i live in switzerland and dont have the means to go out and try things on a regular basis, i need to relay on other folks knowledge and scales put up by the producer...

so my general question is: when looking at scales - do i rather go with more potential up or down?
saying: i am around 67 kilogram and 183cm - do i take fins for the range of 55 - 70Kg or with the one from 65 - 80Kg..?

since you run into scales pretty much everywhere - board size i.e. - this question came up more often and what better place to bring it up... :blah:

thanks in advance! :D

Interesting, I've not seen a weight chart for fins before. The surffcs.com link is well worth a read.

Thats interesting, i too had not seen this type of chart. But to be quite honest is seems a completely arse about tits way of choosing a fin size. You pick a board based upon your size, weight, type of waves you intend to ride etc etc and then the board should dictate what fins go with it. However to answer your question what i would do is to phone up/email webber and ask them directly what fins the board will work best with and at the same time you can ask if this is likely to be the right board for you based on your size, weight etc.

I would get medium sized fins. The main thing is rider weight, but increased board size (particularly tail width) needs more fin too.

Good luck on your surfing adventures :D
