got my first board!

Postby TheBeatenPath » Fri Aug 19, 2011 7:06 pm

i decided to take the plunge with buying a board. i needed something smaller so i can put it in my car. so i went to the local surf shop and checked out there used ones.
i ended up getting a 6'5 x18.5x2.33. yeah it will take a bit more to learn on but i can go out more because its easier to transport and i will learn on how to surf it no matter what.

heres the pics. and i cant read cursive so if you could tell me what it actually says that would be great too.

it is apparrent i need to learn to duck dive better.
the board worked well and had pretty good balence paddling it.
but my arms were spent by the time i got past the white water. couldnt even push my self up on the board. time to start swimming more laps and doing pushups.

Duck diving does take some practice but you're right it'll save precious energy. When you're starting out do it every chance you get, even if you know you can probably paddle over it's still good practice. And even if it's ankle to knee high, think to yourself 'ok that's an overhead wave crashing down on me I better get deep.

Congtrats. Oh how I remember the days of learning to duck dive, thought i'd never get it. The sooner you get the nak the better, it saves you energy and can get you out of a lot of sh@t at times. Your new board is a fairly big and will take some time to get used to, enjoy every learning curve..
