Starting on a short board

Postby devincates24 » Fri Jun 24, 2011 11:26 pm

I am a beginner to surfing and I've read a lot about how hard it is to start on a short board but I really still want to. I don't have the moey to just buy and sell boards goingnfrom bigger to smaller as I get better. I am 5'11 130 pounds. What short board size is for me and any advice to starting on a short board cause I dont wanna rent boards or start bigger and go shorter!
If you have started on a short board then help me out!

Don't be like that DBbyB, if they frustrate themselves out of surfing it's one less in the crowd.

The more pertinent question is where do you get the extra emoticons, or are they moderators privilege :?:

BTW way if you want to head south from your Sydney spots pm me.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

It is possible, but it is making it harder for yourself.

Since you are quite light, but a good volume 6'6 will last you a while. Remember it is width and not length that make a board more stable, don't get anything with less than 20 inches in width. I would recommend getting a larger board though to learn on though, 22 wide would be perfect.
