20 year old looking for country to work and surf. Help!

Postby Alabama » Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:16 pm

Hi. I am a 20 year old college student in the US. I am looking to get away for a year or 2. I am looking for a county with a warm climate, good surf, and the ability to get basically any job that I can support myself with. I have been looking into Costa Rica and the Maldives. But also looking at Fiji and other tropical locations. I love places like Fiji, but how developed is it? Could I get a job there?

Please let me know if anyone has any info on where I should go. Any info is help. Thanks

Quiksilver is looking for a surfing instructor in the Canary Islands (off West Africa , belonging to Spain). You might want to check that option

Good luck!

Man I really want to know that too, I'm from Brasil and here we heard a lot of california, it's like a dream of life, go to california surf perfect waves and get a job. But in central america you could find some places. Costa Rica has excellent surfing, but that's a lot of problems there too, I don't know if a job is something too easy to get.
Maldives and Fijy I think is not really cheap to go, and without a job is difficult to support yourself.
Anyway, I really want to help but unfortunally I can't.
Hope we both find a place like that soon.
Good luck!

Hey Guys I already answered this on Hisurfs post!
CABARETE DR!!!!!!!!!! This is where you wanna be! I came here to spend 4 month during the winter time, started surfing here and never left again. Now I life the dream since 4 years, sit in the line up surfing waves every single morning at sunrise and opened a Hostel (the first to be in Cabarete) last November, after a couple of years waitressing arround. Cabarete is a young, little surfe town - as well a great place and famous for Kite boarding. A perfect day here is like this > surfing at sunrise, kite boarding in the afternoon, work some time in between and Party BIG in the night! No sharks (that bite) dolphins and wales instead, warm water ALWAYS (never surfed in a wet suit in my life), Job usualy easy to find (instructing, waitressing, office or guide) chances are better during high season Jun-Aug & Dec-March! If you need more infos about Cabarete, DR, Surfing&Kiting or any other kind of advice, pls feel free to contact me at info@lagunahostelcabarete.com!!!! Good luck finding your place

Just a comment before you slide down the chute to shore dump or right out, read the post and WORKOUT what they are talking about
