Where are you at in California Kee 109?? A 4/3 is not that thick and if your outta shape then your paddle will dye quickly no matter what suit your in. Um yea cuttin the arms off is not such a good idea,,, say sell it and get a great new 3/2 or a 4/3 that has more stretch/flex. As for your paddle ,,,,, just keep swimming... You'll get better the more you do it and you'll get in shape doing more of it.

Just to clear up any confusion, and to reiterate my earlier point...

if you cut the sleeves of your wetsuit you might as well not wear one at all. The water will come in and your gonna be too cold to surf regardless. I say leave the sleeves on, it will only get you in better shape.

:D I thought of doing this, know how you feel! I'll do it when I get a new suit. a long john suit would be interesting to wear.

I've got a O'Neil Blackout 5/4/3 and it's like paddling in molasses compared to without, which is not what you want as when needing the suit you actually need more flexibility. Superstretch suits are a lot better but I think that's what you already got... wonder what difference gloves make...

Cut off your arms, paddling won't be a problem. Feeding yourself might.

Why is it for so many "surfer would bes" anything except get fit and use the appropriate equipment is what they want to do.
Me no savvy :?:

Dear Jaffa,
I am a really hopeless surfer, but I find it easier to blame my equipment than myself, my fitness, my lack of talent or my inexperience. In this way, I get to hope that I can avoid all the hard work of getting fit or learning how to surf by making a token change in something that I don't really understand, and can't be that important anyway because I saw a thread that said anyone can surf on a shortboard after 30 minutes practise.
If I drill holes in my surfboard on the second wednesday of the month at high tide whilst drinking a litre of pomegranate juice, will it suddenly make me surf like kelly slater?
Thanks,
Kookienewbie

Two holes, one to let the water in and one to let the water out. Oh sorry in the wetsuit not the board.
Imagine, Drowning bit by bit, how they would be treated on Real surf, tears would flow.

I'm actually surprised no noobian has asked what colour board is the best.
Won't they be amazed to know that when the spectral analysis matches the harmonics of the parabola of length to the inherent wavelength of the colour frequency chosen, then paddling is just so much easier and down the line performance is typed to the arc of the radiant.
This applies to big wave riding particularly , get it wrong and it's megahurts.
