where's best to live cheapest & learn to surf in warm water?

Postby bman » Sat May 07, 2011 1:48 pm

hey guys,

I spent about 3 months learning to surf on weekends and early mornings about 14 years ago on muzenburg beach in capetown when I was living over there, but never got that good, my board was way too small I now know, but my brother now lives in cornwall and being down there occasionally over the last few years has got me thinking about surfing again. I am in East Timor at the moment and just finishing a scuba divemaster internship, but passed through bali on the way here and been talking alot to my brazilian friend who recons the best way to learn to surf is to do it every day.

Anyway, I havent got much money but I think I may discontinue diving and find somewhere cheap to just surf and fish for as long as it takes me, or my money runs out - but I dont know where in the world would be best to try and do this/
Any advice from those who have been this route themselves would be massively appreciated,

best,

Bman

East Timor back to Bali easy question, stop in Bali make sure your visa are in order, cheap losmen and homestay abounds head up the coast to Medewi way cheaper than the whole Kuta, Bukit strip mellower waves too.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

thanks for the repy jaffa - just checked out medewi and that is just the kinda place I am looking for though i'm maybe even after an even more beginner beach - seems that one has some pretty big rocks and stuff - which I think may be a deal breaker for me with my inexperience ... any spots like that with sandy bottoms?
