Surfing in Bournemouth area tomorrow?

Postby RideH20 » Sat Apr 30, 2011 5:03 pm

Hey guys,

I'm really new to surfing but probably love it more than my snowboarding. We went to woolacombe sept last year and we were pretty lucky with the waves and i picked up the basics without too much of a problem, it was great because i could really see the waves coming so it was obvious where iwas meant to be!

So we've gone down to boscombe reef on a few occasions for the winter beach but not surfed yet as it always seemed a bit pony (wave wise) well we are going to bournemouth area tomorrow and the surf reports on windguru (as far as i understand seem good?)

I know the reef is closed due to H&S but where should i be looking at going bearing in mind we need to hire a wetty and board too, i mean can you hire at sandbanks, or bournemouth itself or just try it out at Boscombe, or is there somewhere better on the south coast i should be heading?

really hope you could give me a heads up on the best place to surf tomorrow, and hopefully see you there!

Thanks
Phil

Unfortunately I think your best chance of any waves are if the winds pick up and move more onshore, even then it would be messy slop. There is a Surf X thing happening at boscombe pier on sunday, which I assume means free rental gear or lessons. Hope some swell hits the south coast soon, It's been flat for so long now :(

boscombe has 2 surf schools to rent from, and as said there is a huge boscombe tea party thing going on tomorrow with bands, arts and crafts, and the surfX thing (i've got a free lesson at 10am!!) with surf related art for sale on the pier.

can't think of any rentals near bournemouth beach.

Sorry wasn't online over weekend or would have you responded but glad you had a good weekend in the end.

No doubt you saw this whilst you were at Boscomber pier!
