Fin search

Postby steve stroot » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:41 pm

I'm re-entering the surfing world after a 34 year absence. I just acquired a "Greek" "Maui Model" board with a broken fin (see photos). The board is rough but I'm hoping to replace the fin to make it useable. The fin is an early interchangeable system (not adjustable) and displays "W.A.V.E. SET" on the base. Does anyone have one of these they could part with or have any idea where I can obtain one? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome back Steve, hope you find the stoke all over again.
You and the board probably left the water at the same time :!:
Guess you have to search around maybe even contact the Greek's shop and see if a fin is lurking under layers of debris out the back. In fact a new board might be easier and cheaper to find. If what you have is heavy and battered it may not be an asset to retrain your self on.

What ever way you choose to go, enjoy and set out to become a member of the fun crew
Let us know your progress.

Hello Steve,
I would get a new fin box installed in your board and you can use and experiment with all the new fins out there! Most surf shops have a repair guy who can install a new fin box for you. Good luck, and have fun surfing!

You can also maybe ask if they can shape you a fin, and give them the broken one... If that fails, yes, get them to put in new fin boxes.
