hot coat on epoxy board

Postby hangtenri » Wed Jan 05, 2011 5:14 pm

whats up everybody, I have a quick question. I have been shaping for about 3 years now but only polyester resin. I am mentoring a local high school kid and he wants to do an epoxy board. I am comfortable with everything except the hot coat procedures. I'll lay 2 layers of cloth on deck and laminate then one on bottom. What is the proper procedure for doing a hot coat with epoxy???
Thanks for any advice

Pretty much the same as it is with polyester. Some epoxy resins require a sanding aditive and some don't so you will need to check the label. Also as you have way more time to work the resin you should be able to reduce your quantities a bit and spend more time working the resin around.
