Which Webber!?

Postby r10ley » Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:44 am

Hi, new here so here we go : D, im a 6`2 175lb man and im currently surfing a 7`8 mini mal, however im starting to out grow her so im looking to move down to something shorter and more turnable. Most people would tell me to go for something like a 7`2 mini mal but unfortunately I havent got the cash to buy boards all the time so looking to go abit shorter. Surfed the GF's 7`2 and it seemed fine.

Ive been looking and like the look of the webber boards. Specificaly ive been looking at the Afterburner and the Pulse (formally the Fatburner). However im struggling to see the difference between the two can anyone help? Which of these is a better board for me. I surf in the North East of England where its generally mush/2ft to 4/5 ft on those special days : P Im looking to progress my turning and realy would like a board that I can start to duck dive to make life easier. I was looking around the 6`7 size will this be easily divable. I was also looking at the Webber `The One` board but understand this is more of a shorty that a performance fish. Or if you could suggest any other boards great!

Any advice would be great. Thanks

Ive never used either board however Ive got a friend in the same position as you who bought a afterburner and loved it also if they do a 6 10 that might be better for you or the 6 7 as long as its nice and wide

sorry to bump the thread a little but I know a little about the webber :)
I've got the fatburner (now the pulse) and from what I can gather, it's a little wider and fatter than the afterburner, a bit more solid and a higher volume in the water. from my experience, I absolutely love it, it's my main board and catches anything. easy to throw in a few nice carves on too. This one's a 6'9 and it doesnt get bulky. only problem is it has high volume meaning it's much more difficult to duckdive than my aloha shortboard: the afterburner in this respect would probably show to be a bit better.
on the mushy days I take out this board and catch more waves, but I wouldn't mind trying out an afterburner either, heard they're amazing.
up to you, they're my thoughts :)
