Postby joe1300a » Tue Apr 13, 2010 10:24 pm

hi, im looking to buy a winter suit as i live in scarborough and have been using an old 5/4/3 and freezing from cold water flushes, ive tryed on last years oneil heat, 5/3 which is liquid seam sealed and is toasty, i go down to devon most summers bt only for a week so dont mind being too hot, ive got a budget of about 150 quid and im basically wanting the best suit i can get for the money, and advise would be awesome, cheers

Wetsuits with neck-entry and chest-zippers are much warmer than wetsuits that have back zippers. The difference is startling. Look for this kind of design.

A divers type waterproof zip in a wettie does me okay. Might be out of budget though - have a browse (might get one second hand but buyer bewarer there).

Back zips sooner or later leak letting water in round your kidneys, brrrr! Neck entry just relates to the fact that you're climbing in via the top of the suit.

I have been buying the O'neill Mutant 543 for the last few seasons. Every year when it is time to get a new suit I think it might be fun to try out something else, but nothing ever seems quite as nice and I always go with the tried and true.

Ditto, works for me. Used in the North Sea into December at Scarborough, no problems.....
