Board to soft? *pics added*

Postby shark_bait » Sun Jul 18, 2010 1:52 pm

I have a 6'7" SEVEN I bought of craigslist last year and I feel that this board is to soft. The board is super light and the top is riddled with dents from my knees. I think if I tried hard I could put my fingers right through it... How would I go about makeing this board stiffer? Would a few coats of clear epoxy (whetever the outer most board material is) do the trick?

I think no so. Only resin coat don't add stiffness or strength. A 6 oz. fiberglass patch ya

My other board is much stiffer and looks like the clear epoxy over the entire board is much thicker.

So I would have to fiberglass the entire board to add strength? Is it normal for boards to be this soft? Im thinking it's normal if it's a cheaply made board, lol.

you cannot know how much layer of cloth there's on your board, you only see smoothness and clarity of surface

I think that your board is made in China or, more probability, it haven't necessary cure period of time, after lamination. Is it stink?

These are the dents in the top of the board

There is damage on the tail of the board, from the looks of it, there doesnt seem to be much fiberglass if any. It seems as if there is just a glossy clear layer over the foam core.

Could I add a layer of fiberglass over the entire board? What could I expect to pay for materials? My other board is made in china but is much better qaulity then this one.

dents of decks seems normal damage due to massive use.

If u relaminate deck only stop grow of it, but no other solution I see.

when fiberglass is mixed with resin becom absolutely trasparent. Is important that U ascertein how thing are.

for 2 metres of fiberglass pay 10 euros, equal for 1 litre of Silmar, more or less.

E mail to seabase.uk

Looks like my new board after only 4 weeks use, but then I use it every day so.... Put a tail pad on there too that'll help a bit since the tail area gets the most pressure from your backfoot while surfing and duck diving.
