Soft Roof Racks on my Renault Clio

Postby garsha » Sat Jun 19, 2010 2:12 pm

Hi everyone,

This summer I'm driving to Biarritz from London in my 3 door Renault Clio, with two boards. I haven't got roof racks and don't really want to get permanent ones (because of cost...). So I was wondering if anyone has tried the soft roof racks available? Are they easy to use? do they work on a 3 door car? are they suitable for long journeys on motorways etc? Any advice would be appreciated...there are so many out there and I just don't know where to start looking!

Thanks Charlotte

Hey Garsha, I've had experience with soft racks and it's all been good, even during winter with strong winds they've worked well. I've got some rhino single racks and was with friends today who were using some inflatable ones, not sure of the make. But I've attached mine to 3 and 5 door no worries. the racks we were using today were on a 3 door with both racks through the front door, normally though you can put the rear rack through the rear window if it can be opened a little then just feed it through. Long journeys dont seem to be a problem, done a lot of motorway with mine :D
Hope this helps.

Last summer I had a trip with my family, I also faced same problem not having Roof Rack. I was surfing for Car Roof Racks then I got over to Handiworld. I found HandiRack its really useful and Multipurpose, Compact & Portable Rack you can try that.

They work fine - however, if you're using a big board (minimal upwards) then don't be shocked when you see it start to lift! It looks like it'll take off.....as long as you do it up properly, it won't go anywhere....
