Postby sunkissed » Thu May 20, 2010 2:10 am

how has surfing changed your life? or has it changed? do you view life differently than when you first started?

just a fun question :)

Moved from one side of the world to the other - supposedly as a 'career move' but was in fact a 'live by the ocean and surf move' ;)

I'm getting outside more, I'm happier in general (unless it's a long flat spell), I'm in better shape. I have passion in my life again!

I've moved closer to the beach (higher rent), spent a lot of money on boards and wetsuits, and lose a few hours of work here and there, and it's all more than worth it!

surfing has changed my live a lot, i've given up so many things, from decent jobs to living in other countries and even relationships, now i don't work, live by the ocean, surf everyday, and have a very relaxed type of life.before i even had 2 jobs at the same time and lived..you know a regular, ordinary live, like most people have, so i thought of a way to live of surfing if being a pro wasn't going to happen, i'm a much happier person now, healthier, more fit and even look younger than before.

Surfing is definitely something special to me. Not sure how "religious" any of you are.. but to me.. being in the ocean is being in God's love. Riding a wave is ultimately my feeling of being in His hands, and living life. Making my own turns, guiding myself through the amazing splendor of the world, go faster at some spots to escape the harm, slowing down at others to bask in the beautiful glory of it all. But when it all comes down to it.. He is the one that closes the wave, that shapes it all, and its that shaping that guides where I can go.. and what I can do. :D

Surfing is life to me. I dont get to surf as much as I wish I could (only 1-3 times a week), but it's definitely something special.

How has it changed me?? I've grown a lot in how much I love life, love nature and generally love people.. in AND outside of the water. :D

Made me more of an active person, and gave me a deeper appreciation of the outdoors, especially the ocean. Before I surfed, I was into sports cars and electronics, and all that jazz. Now not so much. I think I actually save a lot of money, because the activity of surfing keeps me entertained and busy instead of buying those useless objects.

I never realised I could ever be a sporty type!!! I came to surfing late at 43 and now it is on my mind daily. I am about to move to Cornwall when I sell my house to be closer to the waves. I've always been a coastal gal, but several years land-locked in the Welsh Valleys is now enough... I need to surf to stay happy.
I am fitter than I have been in years and intend to get fitter still.
I too am growing my hair and feel like I have re-found my mojo, having not had sex for as long as I can remember and no longer read so many books (my other passion)! :-D
Can't wait to find a pub with cool folk who just love to surf and fancy a beer every now and then to chill n chat - no decent pubs for SEVEN YEARS! lol
