Ripping ?

so i wanna ask an opinions questions

what are things that you see a person do that makes you think
"that guy rips "

- and im not talking about slater status rips
but just local hero status

When you see a guy/gal do an off the lip and their fins come out the back, and then they proceed to launch an air and then land it. I feel intimidated by those guys because I can't even do that xxxxx lol.

I would say someone who rips looks like they are challenging the wave. Constantly moving not waiting at the bottom of the wave for a chance to do another snap, that actually looks bad to me. Someone that makes cutbacks and snaps and every move look very fluid and effortless.

Instead of sitting in the pocket waiting to snap the lip to loose speed they go up and down the face and then snap the lip followed by a smooth curve again. I don't like boxy surfing or square surfing, i like curves followed by tricks.

well i asked the question because
what i thought to be ripping when i was beginner and what i thought to be ripping now is very different

then that led me to thinking "what is the general consesus on what ripping is?"

When I see guys connecting runs all the way along a wave, that's rippin. I reckon, If i stop paddling to watch them on a wave, they are rippin hard. Basically lots of cutties and flowing aerials I think.
