South Wales Longboarders

Postby ChasingDaylight » Tue Oct 06, 2009 5:21 pm

Just moved to Cardiff to start uni and am in need of some longboarding company. The idiot next door to me wants to go 'shred' but i'm not really that way inclined :yearght:

I'm pretty average...not that good really, but starting to get into bigger waves and concentrating on the details of my surfing.
I don't know the place at all really and it would be good to get some local knowledge. Anyone around?

Hi guys/girls,

I have recently caught the surfing bug over the previous 6 months, learnt at fistral, have spent a lot of weekends there since. I have an 8ft x 21.5 board.

I live in south wales, have just started going down to Rest Bay in Porthcawl every weekend (there is the elusive pro tournament there this weekend by the way, if anyone fancies going), anyway I am loving my surfing, going down again tomorrow, I feel I am learning rapidly and can stay on the board every time in the surf lol....I am now concentrating on my paddling and positioning to be able to consistently catch waves. So not really any good yet, but getting better slowly but surely.

The problem, well its not a problem really, as i still love surfing alone, but it would be good to have some company and have a laugh too. I am a newbie i guess, so am not part of a group, but would be good to have some mates who enjoy surfing at the same spot.

So if anyone else goes there and fancies meeting up to share some waves and some laughs let me know.

By the way this is the first time i have seen this site today and read through the forums, some great advice and topics, what a brill site!.

Anyway cheers everyone
