Billabong or O'Neill

Postby BB-GLACK » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:08 am

Hi,
I'm looking to buy first wetsuit, think I have it narrowed down to two, on my budget I think either billabong foil 5/4/3 or O'Neill Epic 2 5/4, there both around the same price but I get some freebies with the billabong with the offer I'm looking at. I couldnt find much in reviews on the billabong though, are they ok? any advice appreciated, cheers.

Can you try them on first? Different brands of wetsuits fit differently so you really shouldn't buy without trying on a few different ones. You could get lucky...or you could end up with one that doesn't fit well, and then it doesn't matter how expensive it was. That said, the Epic is a slightly more upmarket suit.

I notice that you're looking at only 5/3 suits...the water here (in Ireland) will be starting to warm up after the next month or so and you'll bake for the Summer. You CAN be too warm in a wetsuit. A decent 4/3 (with hooded polypro vest, gloves and booties for the Winter months) will see you through most of the year here.

Cheers for that, I didnt realise a 4/3 would do, I was nearly going for a 6/5/4 after freezing all winter in raggy rentals, so taught a 5/3 would be the min and would do for summer too! Makes sense though, think ill shop around another bit before buying so, cheers!
