My beach is cool - fires, lights and all sorts - and one bright street light in the ditance to align with so no worries here, especilly if you can get to the pub !

i know its true. surfing wouldn't be as fun if you didn't fall or wipe-out haha. but when you can't see the waves coming anymore its kinda pointless haha. you need a full moon, otherwise its not going to work.

Hey good point - a full moon does make it a bit easier !

(Full moon at night is when the drunk girls turn into werewolves though !)

dangerous if you can't see the shore... got lastwaveitis one evening. Paddled back out for one more than i should have, when it got really dark. There was a really long lull in sets when I decided to paddle back in. Was paddling or about 10 mins when I realised I wasn't getting anywhere. Had been in a rip the whole time and not known it. Tried paddling parallel to the shore for another 10 mins but forgot that there is an estuary about a mile up the beach that empties as the tide draws out sending a current up the beach towards me, so again had been getting nowhere for 10 mins and not known it. By now I was proper tired. Paddled hard for shore for about another 10 mins when the sets came again. Just missed 3 sets by about 6 feet when luckily a bigger set broke dumping me inside the break zone. Was never so glad of a wipe out. Caught the next set in and was kissing the shore when I got there. Felt a bit of a prat to be honest but exhausted and glad to be back in.
All jokes aside, you never know you're not in control in the sea until you're not in control. Be careful out there guys.
