Cities to surf in the southeast U.S.?

Anyone have any advice on cities in the southeast U.S. that have Jobs, Nightlife and waves? I'm currently living in VA Beach almost done with college and trying to find somewhere south to move to. So far I've been looking at Wilmington NC, Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL, Melbourne FL.... I've been getting real frustrated with VA Beach's crowds, cold weather and lack of south swell.
