Wetsuit, but which one?

Postby NORAB » Thu Feb 04, 2010 7:21 am

Hey guys, iam Philipp from Germany and i am travelling in Australia since almost a year now. I'll fly back in 3 weeks though. Now, if i am back in Germany I'd like to travel to surf in the North See or driving to the Atlantic Coast in France. Iam not sure which time of the year though.

To me, if it helps. Waight ca. 81 - 6.2 ft.

I asked in a couple of shops already that it might be the best to by a 3x4 mm wetti, heard the ocean isn't that warm. I would spend max 200 Euro, i reccon it's not worth it to spend more then that!

I hope you guys can help me. Regards, Philipp!

Philipp,
Go for the C-Skins Wired 4/3, excellent suit. I have 2, summer and winter versions, that are both 2 years old and are still both in excellent condition. I surf nearly everyday so they've had lots of use! The O'Neill Mutant 4/3 is another good choice as it has a detachable hood. Both suits have chest zips which in my experience are much warmer, thing is they will be more than 200euros but either will be worth it as they will last longer than a cheaper suit. Buy cheap, buy twice! Hope this helps

may to October 3/2, Nov to April 5/3, personally i am having joy with the 5/3 O'Neil psycho 2 this winter and i used the 3/2 psycho last summer. as an all rounder i would agree with surfordie, a 4/3 would see you through and c-skins are a quality suit.

The body glove vapor has to be the best surfing product I have ever bought. I have the 3/2 that I surf pretty much year around here in SoCal. and I have a 4/3 that I use when I travel up north.

Thanks for the replays. What do you guys think about Rip Curl and Billabong wetsuits? Are they good aswell? It's just like, i have really no idea what to buy. I'll order it over the internet because i think it's a way cheaper.
There are many nice offers in the net, that's why. ;-)

Checked out the body glove vapour. Quality suit, especially the fact that bodyglove have put the water repellent coating on the outside of the suit. Most suits have a hydrophobic/water repellent coating on the inside of the suit which is totally wrong. As the water repellent coating causes water to evaporate it takes heat with it from your body and its the layer of water next to your skin that keeps you insulated!! How do you find the suit's durability?
