Big Socal Surf

Postby isaluteyou » Sat Jan 09, 2010 1:20 am

Okay guys n gals its looking like sandiego and surrounding area's may see some significant swell on the horizon. I hope it wonte be a big let down like almost every forcasted big swell event has been. From what i can gather it starts building throughout friday night and the first blip should reach us tomorrow either way im expecting to see waves so thats a good thing. But i have my eye mainly on whats coming in on wednesday next week. Who knows, most the reports i have read vary from 8-20ft in their report LOL i will be satisfied with either - well maybe not too big i dont have the boards to handle

Will keep an eye on this and report back whats happening as i have front row seats  Unlike our friends across the pond we wont freeze but could drown depending on the size this chucks up

well this weekend did throw down some big waves in the 8ft+ range. Biggest still to come. Got into a bit of a sketchy situation having my leash snap half a mile out to sea or something and then having to swim all the way back in some pretty strong surge - somehow my board managed to miss the pier and squeeze through the pilings undamaged. Lucky both me and my board made it back :-)

It looks like it will hit today seen it building all day. Will access the situation at the incoming tide and make a choice about whether or not to hit it. Really depends how big it gets anything under 12ft and its a go.

If anyone is wanting to paddle out im gonna hit the cliffs probably garbage or indicators at around 2:30-3:30pm (look for a dreadlocked guy) - but most likely south garbage wanna make use of that nifty channel if it really starts bombing DOH any bigger and i dont think my boards can hack it.

If i dont surf i will take some snaps off my patio.
