Hey matey
those first few frontside turns do feel a bit wierd hey but heres a few pointers to get the ball rolling....
1. The rule with most turns is having sufficient speed to carry through the turn, an excellent way to enter a frontside turn with speed is from a good strong bottom turn, so practise getting a good one(watch kelly slaters, the best in the biz)
2. Staying in a low position when beggining the turn high on the wave and gradually unwinding through the turn will provide extra power and ease of turnage haha.
3. Try to raise the trailing arm and drop the leading arm when beginning the frontside turn, this will put your weight forward into the turn and help keep your speed(watch Mick Fanning cutback....extremely chronic)
4. Always watch the spot you want to get to, NOT the spot you are at
5.Turn your eyes with your head when looking for that spot,i.e dont look out of the corner of your eyes, try to look in the direction your head is facing.
6. Once you have become parallel with the wave through the turn your trailing raised arm should drop to a more even position with your leading arm .your leading arm may have even begin to have raised in anticipation of the oncoming whitewash!!!!!!!!!!(see Kelly Slater, damo hobgood, wrap around cutback absolute filth))
7.Watch a surf video over and over of someone doing a juicy cutback and try to 'feel' the turn, visualise yourself doing it as well.
8.Practise like theres no tommorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps, everyones different and uses diff techniques but this works for me and I rip hahaha jk Im crap
P.S.(Even practising on a skatey will accellerate your learning, like terminator)

Pivot around your back foot with most of your weight on it, your trailing arm should be low, touching the water. You turn your board around the tail so your weight needs to be focused to the rear. Search the forums there's a lot on this stuff already.

The best advice anyone has ever given me for turns is this:

Speed- the more you have, the deeper and easier the turn or snap will be. BAM!

Eyes/head: Look where you want to go. the easiest tip and best tip for rad turns.SICK!

Upper body: use your shoulders and hips to turn, not your legs (when your getting started). Try pointing where you wanna go. DOPE!

Follow my BAM, SICK, DOPE, three step system and you'll be ripping in no time!
