Okay - had a browse and as far as I am concerned ANY new developments in surfing by hard grafters are welcomed - good on ya Roy.

After all - when you get to the competancy where you can surf any 'normal' surfbaord, it is item's like Roys' that keep the flame alive.

(I hpoe to launch my own inovative 'boards on Dec 14th 2009 so I gotta support THE one and only true Olo Surfer !).

Okay update:

Got some basic videos - Got registered trademarks at £lots - and have applied for more classes of trademarks for clothes and other stuff. I'm going to be a rival to RipCurl lol !

I also have derived a £130K per annum business which I now need to try and launch with next to no money!

Pfft – one day Roy I’ll be able to afford one of Ur boards !

Hang 11 the new flex fin is an ultra thin utra flexy fin, a development of the bulb tipped flex fin used on the baron prototype. It's a low pressure low drag low lift fin, which can conform to the water flow.

Early sunday and I'm not the sharpest tool in the box

So a simple explanation would be good - how does it work? What does it make the board ride like?

It's an intriguing setup.

Fair enough Hang now that you've had time to sharpen up I'll have a go at explaining.

As you can probably imagine when the board stars to turn or is on the rail at all the fin does this:



Bending to the flow like that allows the board to roll more easily, which is nice because the tunnel doesn't resist roll at all, and the two fins together offer only a gentle resistance to the board rolling. As the fin bends it stores energy and releases it as flex fins do, so it also helps the board spring back up out of the turn.

The feeling of the flex fin plus tunnel compared with the spitfire fin plus tunnel is a soft slightly twangy response to the rail to rail roll, the tail snakes through the turns, but doesn't crab sideways at all it still sets a true line. It's quite hard to explain. Smooth is a one word description.

Flex fins on their opwn can lack drive but the big tunnel is so powerful that the board has both drive and a soft forgiving response.

Here's a video of a few waves on the prototype, some with a flex fin plus tunnel ( stiffer flex than the new baron fin ) and some with the original spitfire fin plus tunnel . .. on some of the waves I'm hanging way back and using the tunnel more and on others I'm a bit further forward. I had to stall for the kneelo by the way so that I didn't run him over.
