Wetsuit Maintenance

Postby PredationSA » Wed Sep 09, 2009 4:03 pm

Hey guys. I ran a search and nothing came up therefore sorry if it has been asked before :P

What do you guys do/What are the best methods to keep your wetsuit in tip-top shape post-surf? E.g. do you just wash it under the shower, soak it when you get home etc.

Recently picked up a new suit and I've always thought to have had decent post-surf maintenance but I want to make sure I'm treating the suit the right way :)

P.S I bought my most recent suit 2nd hand and it has a little stain on the shoulder (a circle +-3-4 centimeters in diameter), are there any effective methods to remove it? It's not too important but if i can remove it, then why not!

I'm no expert but I rinse mine off with the beach shower and then at homes rinse it inside out when I'm getting showered and hand it (on a smooth wide hanger) to dry. To wash the more 'soiled' areas there are wetsuit shampoos on the market (I have some O'Neill stuff somewhere)

If it's going to be hunbg for any length of time then put it the correct way out and store out of direct sunlight and black witch is the stuff for any repairs once the suit is TOTALLY dry!

Take wetsuit off so its inside out,
Take it home, hose it down with water
Turn it inside out again and hose it down again
The leave it drip dry from THE WAIST, otherwise it will stretch the shoulders on the suit

Hope this helps
