Full length traction pad

Is there anybody out there using a full board tracion pad on their longboard? I am looking into getting one, more out of need. I have a 24' delivery truck and am going to start carrying my board in the box, where it gets extremely hot, and as you can guess wax is going to melt fast. I saw the one that Sticky Bumps makes and it looks pretty good. Is there anything else out there? The board I am going to put it on is a 9' 10" Rusty Performance longboard.

I do not have a full length traction pad on my board, but have ridden standup paddle boards that did. I don't think I personnaly would use a pad like that for my board. It is like sand paper. If you have ever ridden a "Soft Top" it is the same thing, but worse. With in half an hour of riding I was almost bleeding in several spots. But, that is just my experience with full length traction pads.

I have often used a back one, but i'm abt to use one back one and 4 in front of it, so only abt half the board. that might work, then you only have to wax the top half. I agree they can be harsh on your skin.

I can understand your interest in replacing wax with pad. Even for those of us that don't keep our longboards in a truck, the convenience of going straight to water without waxing has appeal. I looked around the internet to find out more. One on-line surf shop has additional pad pieces that can be used with Sticky Bumps kit you brought to our attention. I also saw that Dakine sells some long pads. They usually market them as pads for stand up paddle boards. This may not make a difference. I liked the idea about the guy that glued a yoga pad to his surfboard. Very frugal. I noticed in Big 5, Walmart, and other discount stores selling atheletic equipment, that there is a wide selection of yoga and sleeping bag pads. When I was young and heavily into backpacking, there wasn't much to choose from. It was difficult to find the thin, warm, and comfy foam that is so common today. When Termarests were introduced, it was absolutely amazing.

Anyway, back to topic: Hope you get this figured out so you can surf more!

Bleeding is the skin rash and cut up thing - I got the same last winter in the ocean surfing in my underpants against a grip pad.
A full deck pad ? I reckon a 1mm plus wetsuit and a couple of grip strips up the front of the board instead of a full deck grip works really good.

i saw on a standup paddle magazine they have a spray on traction now thats permanent or you can use XM's clear traction.

It's a rash thing to do It is also a lot more permanent. But surfing is about doing it your way. GOPHER it

Hey I have been out again in my pants and the rash has totally stopped : this is absolutely a skin desensitisation and I now surf in my pants with zero rash from the deck grip

(I have this on YTube vid so I ain’t talking the nonsense !)
