I have three boards and one leash. It works fine for me when I'm the only one surfing, but when my friends use my boards it becomes a problem. Maybe I just need to get some new friends with their own boards, huh?

have 12 boards and 4 leashes ( only 4 of those boards actually see any real water time lol) when you paddle out just inspect your leash and leash rope to make sure its all good. This is actually real important on big days, nothing like having a leash snap in double overhead surf and then swim back in wild oceans for it

I have about 5 boards and like 3 leashes. Pro comp, thick and thicker. I'll usually use the pro comp with most boards (all shorter), but if it's big, or with a rocky shoreline, I'll use one of the thicker leashes.

I have had this happen to me, was not the nicest of experiences. Took me 35mins to swim back to shore getting pounded by whitewash and getting pulled out by the waves then pounded some more. Whitewash in those days is nearly impossible to body surf back in its just a great big washing machine. Once i got to shore i had to walk another 15mins down the beach to get my board back hahaha.

Never again.. I now have a brand new/barely used leash  for the really big days so this doesn't happen again. I also have 2 boards and leashes for both of them + my big day leash.

Exactly! There's one leash that I take out once (to make sure it's not defective) on an average day. Once confirmed that it's good and strong I'll save it only for the big days.

I use longer stronger leashes in big surf (now that advice would have cost ya from a pro shop !).

i use to have 5 leashes, one for each board, in the last month 3 of them broke lol. ALL ON TEH SAME BOARD! its rediculous.

One use to be those competitoin leashes taht "reduces drag" for an extra $10. and the other was my favorite gel leash. I saved the links and stuff but everytime they broke, it happened on the ankle brace. So the leash to the ankle brace taht acctually rips out the velcro.

One of my board I use to have the guy was a pro and his leash setup was taht the allen screw was partially in the center of the link. If for some reason a really big wave hit, the center would strain, but if it was soo strong it would just disconnect by bending the screw and snapping back rather than rip something. Doing this saved me alot of stress as to seeing that the problem would just be to un-screw and re-screw back in with a key.
