I saw surfwise the film last night. Great film and i'd never even heard of the Paskowitz family before. Has anyone else seen it and what did you think of it?

i picked it up a last year, its an odd one cos, as often happens with people "on a mission" they are brilliant but also a little nuts.

from what i hear doc is also working along side the "god and the devil went surfing " team filming in the gazza strip..he is envoying surfboards across the boarders in an act of peace which is something i personally find profoundly inspiring

I watched this too.

The thing it left me with was; whilst I somewhat agreed with the docs ideology towards life I couldnt get over what a tyrant he seemed to be towards his family - 2 of his children didnt want to paddle out for a family picture in the ocean so he beat them until they did! WTF?!?!

You WILL come out surfing and you WILL enjoy it. - Now everyone say cheese!

Was nice to see at the end that the kids turned out OK and relatively happy. Even if he did call them lazy for not doing things his way. Was disapointed with the lack of surfing shots. Interestin film though

I really enjoyed the film. I'm not sure I agree with him or his methods though. For me, surfing is a huge part of my life, and I would love to give everything up and go surfing, but that doesn't mean that it's for everyone. If it was, overcrowding at beaches would be even worse. If my children didn't want to surf, of course I would be disappointed, but I would never force them. And they would definitely get the best education I could give them so that they get as much an advantage as anyone else. It was a very good film, and made me think a lot.

I enjoyed it. I thought his children would psychologically be gnarly when they became adults, but they were fine.
