Save My Fish!!!

Postby b123 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:08 pm

My friend wound up scraping the tail of my fish along the sidewalk after we finished surfing. :(

It now looks like this at one tip of the tail:

(Please take a look at all the pictures, some are a lot better than others)

It looks like (bear with my complete lack of surfboard shaping knowledge) the layer of fiberglass was completely scraped off the very tip of it? There are also now a couple of hairline cracks running just around it.

I'm completely clueless as to ding repair/etc so I have no idea what I should do with it. Does this kind of damage need a repair? Should I take it somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

definitely needs to be repaired. if you're doing it yourself then you'll need to watch a few videos or get some advice but shouldn't cost much to have repaired at a shop tbh although not too hard to do yourself so let us know what you wanna do

easy fix - sand the area well. then take some fiber glass and pop it on nicely then just sand it smooth.

Is the board a polyester or newer epoxy board? You can get a ding repair kit that comes with some instructions. Costs about $20. If it is epoxy, and you want a quick fix, you can go to the hardware store and get epoxy. Costs about $5. If you want it color matched, have a repair shop do it. After patching it, you sand it smooth.

Not bad, since ding repair kits cost $20.
