I think a 7'3 7s superfish epoxy quad would be awesome, if you have consistent steeper swells then the 6'8" might work well. I have the 8' superfish thruster in glass and it is awesome for where I live. A friend from Florida just got the 6'8" epoxy quad and it is fast and agile, he is 200lbs and 6'1" and loves it. If it gets mushy he has to work for it but on swell of any decent size and steepness it is great. They don't have a lot of rocker, which is usually not a problem, especially with the 6'8". On steeper waves and late drop ins the 8' can be tricky, at least for me. The 8' sounds huge but for someone over 200lbs on the right waves it is amazing. The new epoxy quad 7'3" is supposed to have the float of the 8' but yet is faster and more maneuverable. That's my 2 cents. I am 6'11/2 and 200lbs. If your local break is fast barreling waves you may need a more traditional shortboard with more rocker. I can have a blast on my 8' on a "longboard only" day or when it picks up I am right there with the shortboarders. On really big fast days I wish I had my buddies 6'8" or I just grab them a little further outside. works for me. See if you can demo one. cheers
