Mini Mal Advice - first board

Postby cricketcrazy86 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 2:19 pm

Hi All

I have been surfing on and off for the last 4 years, but always renting boards.

I figure that rather than continue to waste money renting I should look for a board.

So I have 2 questions:

1/ Should I look new or second hand? Take into account I will be using the board probably 2-3 weeks a year, I am a relative beginner.

2/ Which shapers / manufacturers should I be looking at, and which ones should I avoid?

Cheers

1. if its only 2-3weeks a year go second hand or buy a new cheap pop out.
2. as for shapers etc depends where you live and whats local or manufacturers depends on how much you wanna spend.

Look at http://www.islesurfboards.com. They make very affordable hand-shaped boards. Both my boards are made by Isle and I have no complaints!

Second hand mini-mal or pop-out. Sell all your cricket gear an use money for days off work to chase the surf.
