Surfing Game

Postby Guinness » Thu Jun 11, 2009 11:55 pm

I do like the odd computer game, Transworld Surf & a bit of Tony Hawk... but i haven't seen a new game for surfing for ages and ages and ages. I had a quick look around on the net and found this.

I was really hoping there was gonna be a surfing game for the Wii Fit. They brought out snowboarding but no surfing... so i didn't buy one of the wii fit boards.

This new thing that's coming out for xbox where it scans your body or something has the potential to be an out of this world surfing game! Wonder if they'll do it??

Anyway if you like the idea of a new surfing computer game have a look at the above link.

Please pass on to others you know would like to see the return of virtual waves

:D

Never have understood compunction for computer games. I've heard about kids spend many hours each week playing Guitar Hero game. If they put that much time into a real instrument, they'd be playing guitar! Feel the same way about a surfing game. Be that said, I won't try to stop anyone from pursuing these games.

True. But then on the other hand, last year at uni my flat mate had guitar hero and we played it a fair bit after the pub, it's pretty good (also he's in a band playing lead guitar)

compunction

Good word!!

I quite like a good computer game, but I think that Surfing is just one of those things that you cannot capture in any other way. Even with the Wii Fit board, you still don't have the centrifugal forces to properly lean in etc. There's no 'fear' element and you don't need to paddle, so you don't get the same 'reward' feeling.

Plus if you made it properly realistic, you'd have to just spend hours sitting on the board in the living room waiting for waves!!

Cannae beat a play on the old computer! (especially on my massive tv I just got at the weekend, girls who have the opinion that tv's can be too big for rooms please don't bother coming round)

The only surfing game I ever got good at was the one on California Games......man, that's when they used to make real games, none of this Tony Hawk rubbish! The only time a skateboard should come off the ground is when you're doing a handplant! I never could master the front flip on the bmx. I have to say the rollerskating let the whole game down though.

haha, i remember california games, for the master system? Classic!

Yea i know, a computer game is no substitute for the real thing but the transworld surf was cool. Ha, yea i can't imagine waiting real time for a wave in your front room would be much fun, maybe set it so they came through once every 15 seconds or something. Transworld was pretty cool, you could paddle up and down north shore riding different waves, if only you could have actually got out and driven to a different beach
